Galaxy Z Fold7 Renders Leak

After weeks of rumors and speculation, one of the most reputable tech tipsters on the planet has just released a series of renders depicting the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7.

These renders do seem to line up quite well with what we’ve been hearing for quite some time - The Z Fold7 is basically an improved version of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition that Samsung launched in China and South Korea last year. Android Headlines is reporting the following specs.

Measurements

  • 8.2-inch inner display

  • 6.5-inch cover display

  • 158.4 x 143.1 x 4.5mm

  • 9.5mm when closed

That’s right, the next Z Fold will be larger than the brand new Oppo Find N5 (8.12-inch) and thinner and significantly thinner than the Pixel 9 Pro Fold (5.1mm). Granted, it’s not topping Oppo for thinnest devices in the world, but I can’t imagine anyone can realistically complain about 4.5mm considering the Z Fold 6 is a practically chonky 5.6mm. It’s also interesting to note that this is even thinner than the SE, which was 4.9mm. It’s clear Samsung isn’t just shipping last years hardware to new regions.

That reduction in thickness is likely coming due to Samsung’s removal of the S Pen digitizer, which has forced them to use new tech to keep S Pen functionality.

Additionally, we’re finally getting that standard phone aspect ratio cover display most of us have been waiting for. Oh, happy days.

Other Specs

  • Snapdragon 8 Elite

  • 4,400mAh battery

  • 200mp primary camera

  • 12mp ultrawide

  • 10mp 3x telephoto

Aside from the SOC and new primary camera, we certainly do have some room for improvement here. That telephoto is really starting to show it’s age. The same can be said for sticking with the same 4,400mAh battery, but we have heard rumors that charging speeds might see a bump. Still, this is looking like the biggest generational leap we’ve seen from the Z Fold since the Fold 2.

The Time is Right

As I talked about in a recent video, not only is Samsung facing reduced competition with no OnePlus Open 2 coming and no Oppo Find N5 releasing in the US or UK either, this is also coming on the heels of Samsung acknowledging that they're in a literal crisis. After promising to get back to being the innovative boundary pushing OEM we all knew, this new Z Fold couldn't afford to be any less than this.
