Google Pixel Keyboard Case Coming Soon..

Clicks for Pixel 9

My first ever smartphone was the Palm Pre and a big reason for that was the physical keyboard. At the time, I was skeptical that typing on a touchscreen would be an enjoyable experience. All these years later, I can confirm that my intuition still rings true - I simply do not enjoy typing on glass. Anytime I can I fall back to voice to text to avoid allowing my clumsy digits to mangle my messages with typos. Thank god for Pixel’s Proofread function..

Because of my touchscreen keyboard aversion, I was genuinely jealous of iPhone users when the Clicks Keyboard case launched last year. This case aims to roll the clock back to a simpler time when we typed on keys rather than pecking at spots on a screen, devoid of tactility. Once your iPhone is slid into this case and thereby plugged into the USB C connector inside, everything just seems to work.

Android Users Rejoice

Today, company co-founder Mr. Mobile announced in a new video that these unique cases are finally coming to Android devices, starting with the Pixel 9 and arriving slightly later on the Moto Razr+ and the Galaxy S25 and S25+. One caveat for the Pixel 9 and Galaxy S25 series is that the largest variants are unfortunately being left out this time around, although Fisher did tease a solution for these devices coming soon. If size is the issue, one must speculate that perhaps they’re working on some sort of sliding mechanism which could be exactly what I’ve always wanted. Unfortunately for me, I own the Pixel 9 Pro XL and the S25 Ultra so I’ll be waiting for whatever that is.

Just like the iPhone versions, these cases use USB C rather that Bluetooth so there’s no battery to charge and of course it features a passthrough USB C port so that you can charge your phone. They are using their 2.0 version originally built for the iPhone 16 which means it will be made from TPU with brushed metal buttons and a soft coating inside to keep your phone scratch free.

The cases for the Pixels and Galaxy devices rather smartly include magnetic rings that allow users to use their MagSafe or Qi2 accessories as well. There are quite a few nice touches of detail like the grippy area on the opposite side of the keyboard itself to make sure your phone is secure while typing. I love that they’ve placed a Gemini button in the bottom right as well. Speaking of the layout, before launch it’ll go through a Gboard-inspired makeover to make Android users feel even more at home.
