The Honor Magic V4 is Coming Soon

After owning the title of World’s Thinnest Foldable for quite a while, the Honor Magic V3 is set to be surpassed by the Oppo Find N5 which launches this Thursday. Still, coming in at 4.35mm, Honor’s foldable remains an engineering wonder.

According to a tech tipster on Weibo we won’t have to wait very long to see how Honor responds to Oppo’s advancements. Fixed Focus Digital is claiming that the Honor Magic V4 should launch in either May or early June.

At this moment we don’t know much about what this device would be like - although we can assume it would once again be very thin. By looking at the current gen specs we can make a few predictions though.

Magic V3 Specs

Honor Magic V3

What to Expect

Tech leaker Smart Pikachu had claimed back in January that the Magic V4 would have a battery “around 6K.” Not only would that be an increase from the V3, it would also be larger than the Oppo Find N5 at 5,600mAh. The cameras should largely remain in the same general ballpark, but don’t be surprised to see a possible downgrade like Oppo just pulled in the name of increased thinness. Their ultrawide is apparently dropping to an 8MP sensor seemingly for that very reason.

One thing I’m not sure they can do much more with is the thickness. At this point, phones seem to be constrained by the size of the USB C port. Without removing it and moving to a portless design, we may have reached the limit of just how thin phones can go. There’s also a chance that someone might make the body even thinner and have the area around the port be thicker, almost like a camera bump.

Then again, the Huawei Mate XT is 3.6mm, so who knows what Honor might pull off..
