March 2025 Pixel Feature Drop is LIVE with Android 15 QPR2
The first new Pixel Feature Drop for 2025 is here and it’s bringing quite a few notable new features to your Pixel device. As with a lot of Feature Drops, this is being delivered in the form of a System Update as well as app updates all of which should be rolling out soon.
Android 15 QPR2
The second Quarterly Platform Release for Android 15 is rolling out now for the Pixel 6 through Pixel 9 series of devices.
Do Not Disturb is now “Modes.” This allows users to define their own notification filters for certain contacts, apps and alarms that will engage at set times or during calendar events. There are also display options like dimming and grayscale.
Themed icons are no longer in Beta.
Linux Kernel is updated to version 6.1.99
New Feature Drop Features
Gemini Live is updated to 2.0 Flash which should make it even faster and more accurate than before.
Gemini Live’s multimodal capabilities are rolling out to older Pixel Devices. Files, images and YouTube videos are now able to be understood by Gemini Live.
Pixel Screenshots gets a new Suggestions feature that aims to suggest appropriate screenshots for your different collections.
Pixel Studio finally picking up the ability to generate images of people.
Pixel users in Japan and Germany are now getting access to Pixel Screenshots, Pixel Studio, Recorder summaries and Pixel AI Weather Reports.
On Device phone Scam Detection is rolling out, powered by Gemini Nano. This option will analyze phone call patterns commonly used by scammers in real time to warn and protect you from scams. This feature also works inside Google Messages where it will flag suspicious conversations for you.
Satellite SOS is expanding to Hawaii, Alaska, Europe and Canada.
The new Find My Device app is gaining the ability to share your live location with contacts.
Loss of Pulse detection will begin rolling out for Pixel Watch 3 at the end of this month. This feature detects when someone’s heart suddenly stops beating and will contact potentially life-saving emergency services for you.
Pixel Watch 3 is adding the ability to track menstrual cycles, allowing users to log periods from their device so that the Fitbit app can predict future periods.
Pixel Watch is now tracking steps more accurately by recognizing when your walking pattern changes from the norm if you’re doing something like pushing a shopping cart.
Auto Bedtime mode is rolling out to Pixel Watch 2.
Pixel Fold users can now use video recording in Dual Screen Preview Mode.
Pixel devices will now be able to connect to cameras like GoPros or other Pixel phones and use these cameras to stream to social media from different angles.
Pixel Recorder can now generate summaries from old recordings not made on Pixel devices.
Gboard voice-to-type toolbar is rolling out wide.
